Freight volumes are constantly increasing, and the CEP sector in particular is booming, fuelled by online trade. More and more general cargo and parcels have to be transported, so swap bodies in various lengths are the measure of all things. With the tandem swap-body trailer (TWP), Fliegl has developed the ideal vehicle for almost all swap bodies.
The TWP 180 Standard offers mounting options for three different swap body dimensions: the container locks on stable booms are suitable for containers with lengths of 7.15, 7.45 and 7.82 metres. Fliegl equips its tandem swap body trailers with three pairs of removable guide rollers; the Swap Guard swap body positioners before and behind each container lock facilitate positioning of the containers and prevent collision damage. The front stop can be adjusted longitudinally and folded down.
To make manoeuvring under the swap body particularly easy for drivers, the side collision protection is slightly offset towards the inside and the underride guard is narrower than usual; the tapered rear section also facilitates manoeuvring. Gear support feet at the front and rear ensure safe standing at all times. With a lift height between 1,150 and 1,410 mm, the TWP covers a broad range, and, thanks to the brake release function, the axles “relax” before raising or lowering, even in coupled state. The under-hitch drawbar is length-adjustable and, as it is clamped/bolted, it can easily be replaced in the event of damage. A folding holder with spring support on the drawbar is used to guide the connection cables to the truck; when not in use, the plugs and air connections are stored in special park sockets.
Like every axle which leaves the Fliegl factory in Triptis, the two BPW disk brake axles are measured and perfectly set using lasers, which reduces wear on the tyres and ensures lower fuel consumption. Not only do the polished aluminium rims look good – they also contribute to the low unladen weight of only 3,250 kilos. The payload is 14,750 kilos.
The comprehensive LED package comprises rear light clusters, side marker lights, position lights and tracking lights. The amber side marker lights are coupled with the indicators. One LED working light each on the left and right, one in the centre front between the carriers and two at the rear ensure optimum lighting while manoeuvring. The two rear lights are also integrated into the frame for protection.
Other well thought-out details make everyday transport safer and more comfortable: The particularly large 208-litre air supply is sufficient for up to five lifting operations, the mud flap extending across the entire width keeps water on the ground, the tyre pressure monitoring system warns of air loss; a spare wheel holder and the plastic toolbox with drawer and shelf round off the equipment.
