Low loader with high payload

Some transports require more payload, especially when heavy construction machines such as tracked excavators or large wheel loaders have to be transported. With the SDS 470 T semitrailer low loader with wheel recesses, Fliegl has a robust vehicle with a high payload in its range: thanks to its 26,100 kilogram payload, the low loader can shoulder even heavy lumps.

Loading area

The loading height in the drop deck is only 890 millimeters; in combination with the two-part 3.6-meter-long steel ramps with cable extension, this results in a flat ramp angle. The ramps can be individually shifted sideways hydraulically. Thanks to another pair of steel ramps, the 4-meter long gooseneck can also be driven on; in addition, drop sides made of 400-millimeter-high and 25-millimeter-thick hollow aluminum sections can be fitted all around the gooseneck.

While the gooseneck and the wheel well area are covered with sheet steel, the floor in the drop deck consists of 70-millimeter-thick softwood planks made of larch, which have a higher coefficient of friction than hardwood, which is important when loading tracked excavators, for example. For ventilation, the floor is laid with gaps between the planks, so it dries faster. A narrow crossbeam spacing, in combination with the strong planks, allows for particularly high point loading. A 3-meter-long, 65-centimeter-wide and 23-centimeter-deep excavator-deck trough begins at the height of the rear axles and extends all the way to the rear; four lashing holes are recessed in the side of the trough.

For loads with excess width, steel extensions can be pulled out at the side of the frame, onto which the 70 millimeter thick planks can also be laid - this results in a loading area up to 3 meters wide. The additional planks required for this are stored in a storage compartment at the front across the gooseneck. There are matching pull-out warning signs on the drive-on ramps, which are mandatory in the case of excess width.

Load securing

To ensure that every load reaches its destination safely, the low-loader offers plenty of lashing options: 22 lashing mushrooms, each with a tensile force of 10 tons, are recessed in the outer frame at the top and sides, 18 of which are distributed on the low-loader bed, 4 on the gooseneck. A further four ring lashing eyes, each with a tensile force of 5 tons, are mounted on the gooseneck at the front. In addition, there are 16 ring lashing eyes with a tensile force of 5 tons each in the outer frame, which can be converted into stanchion pockets (5 plug-in stanchions are on board). Another pair of screw lashing eyes is mounted on the slope of the gooseneck, and 6 folding lashing eyes are additionally recessed in the low-loading area. For more flexibility, the container lashings in the floor can be used to secure a 20-foot container.

Axles

The drum brake axles with dual tires come from SAF and are laser-measured as usual at Fliegl - this ensures low tire wear and reduces fuel consumption. The 3rd axle is self-steering. To ensure that the permissible total weight is not inadvertently exceeded, an axle load detection system including display in the cab is on board, which receives data from the EBS canbus signal.

Useful details and lighting

Directly below the rear slope, the rear support can be folded down for loading and unloading; the spray flap behind it extends across the entire width and prevents water and dirt from being whirled up.

The extensive LED package consists of multi-chamber taillights with dynamic turn signals, side marker lights, and position and lane departure lights. The lighting package includes a detachable rotating beacon, as well as two LED work lights at the rear; the two warning signs are doubly illuminated with LEDs. Two additional LED worklights are mounted laterally on the right and left at the start of the drop deck, and another is centered in the step to the gooseneck.
