New trailer at Fliegl

semi-trailers for combined transport

Particularly in cross-border traffic, trailer transport by rail can be an effective alternative to road transport. Therefore, the Fliegl 3-axle curtainsider of type SDS 390 RoadRunner is now available in a version for rail loading or combined transport (CT). The RoadRunner has been equipped accordingly: In addition to the obligatory gripper edges, it features a sturdy body, a special tarpaulin as well as a folding underride guard and side impact protection.

Specifically, the robust body is both Code XL and DL 9.5 certified, and also meets the requirements for the beverage certificate according to VDI 2700 sheet 12 ff. as well as the railway codification according to EN 13044 with ILU code. This makes the trailer suitable for transport speeds of up to 140 km/h. The side tarpaulin including gripper edge protection is reinforced with welded horizontal and vertical belts, thus providing the necessary strength for combined transport. The same applies to the roof tarpaulin, which is fastened with five buckles per cross bow, while every second cross bow is equipped with roof securing hooks. In the area of the crane pockets, the roof tarpaulin features markings to facilitate loading into pocket wagons of type e, f, g and i on a 1110 mm high support frame, thus making life much easier for the crane operator. The trailer's supporting feet have been moved back by 120 mm.

In CT guise, the SAF disc brake axles are equipped with sag protection in the form of steel cables, while the axles are also offset slightly to enable the permissible gross train weight of 44 tonnes in combined transport. The first axle is designed as an automatic lift axle, including forced lowering and approach aid: If the towing vehicle requires more traction to move off, the first axle can also be adjusted, thereby transferring more weight to the fifth-wheel plate. When a speed of 25 km/h is reached, the axle is automatically lowered again.

To ensure optimum load securing, the slightly oblique outer frame is equipped with the Load-Lock profile for quick and easy attachment of lashing straps. Safety is further enhanced by the 140 mm high Crash Blocker on the front and the bolted lateral pallet stops. The front and rear panels are suitably robust in accordance with Code XL certification. At the rear, the "Heavy Blocker 2.0" protects the trailer from damage. Eight yellow-marked lashing points secure the trailer.

Thanks to Fliegl's Blitz canopy top, the roof can be opened in a flash. To achieve the full loading height during loading, Fliegl uses its special non-elastic roof pillar made from high-strength aluminium. It never sags, even with all side posts open, which makes loading and unloading with a forklift a much easier process.

So that even heavy forklifts with an axle load of up to 7900 kg can be driven onto the loading floor, the 30 mm resin-coated plywood plates are supported by 8 longitudinal beams. The floor is sealed all round.

Other useful details: The two LED work lights at the rear ensure safe manoeuvring in the dark; the integrated and patented I-Lock door latch has almost no moving parts, and the pull-out ladder at the rear makes it easier to climb up to the loading area.
