Deep, robust and safe - the three-axle low loader trailers for heavy loads

Whether construction machinery, precast concrete parts, crane ballast or other machine parts - the DTS 300 three-axle low loader trailer from Fliegl is the ideal trailer for heavy and extra-wide loads.

The loading height in the low bed is only 860 millimetres, one of the lowest on the market. The floor consists of 70 millimetre thick softwood planks made of larch, which have a higher coefficient of friction than hardwood, which is important when loading tracked excavators, for example. A narrow cross member spacing in combination with the strong planks enables a particularly high point load.

For extra-wide loads, steel extensions can be pulled out from the side of the frame, onto which planks can also be placed - resulting in a loading area up to 3 metres wide. The additional planks required for this are stored in a storage compartment in the centre of the low-loader. There are also extendable warning signs on the ramps, which are mandatory for excess width.

Ramps

The one-piece steel ramps, 2.8 metres long and 75 centimetres wide, are also fitted with thick larch wood, while the ramps themselves are hot-dip galvanised and optimally protected against corrosion. They can be individually moved sideways hydraulically, the two hydraulic cylinders are located behind the ramps and are therefore protected from damage. Carbide bushes on the ramp hinges ensure a long service life without the hinges failing.

Load securing

Many different loads require various load securing options. The DTS 300 offers plenty of them: 8 lashing holes in the outer frame, each with a tensile force of 5 tonnes, 14 lashing mushrooms at the top and sides of the outer frame, each with a tensile force of 10 tonnes; these are supplemented by two lashing cut-outs in the side member at the front on the offset, each with a tensile force of 10 tonnes. There are also a further 10 ring lashing eyes with a tensile force of 5 tonnes in the outer frame, which can be converted into stanchion pockets if required. Four hinged lashing eyes, each with a tensile force of 10 tonnes, two each on the offset and behind the last axle embedded in the floor, round off the package.

Useful details

To enable a 20-foot container to be loaded as an option despite the sloping rear, Fliegl can supply a plug-in cross member that compensates for the height difference of the slope - this ensures a level loading area. The rear support can be folded down directly below the rear slope during loading and unloading; the spray flap behind it extends across the entire width and prevents water and dirt from swirling up.

Fliegl offers a 15-year warranty against rust penetration on the hot-dip galvanised and passivated frame. There is also a 15-year warranty on the robust and maintenance-free three-blade parabolic spring units; the drum brake axles with twin tyres come from SAF and are laser-measured, as is usual at Fliegl - this ensures low tyre wear and reduces fuel consumption. The Trailer Info Centre provides data such as axle load and mileage.

The comprehensive LED package consists of multi-chamber rear lights with dynamic indicators, side marker lights as well as position and lane departure lights. Two LED work lights at the rear ensure an optimally illuminated working environment at all times; the warning signs are double LED-lit.

In order to be able to apply for the exemption licence required for some large and heavy-duty transports in accordance with Section 70 of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), an overall towing certificate is issued when the trailer is collected in Triptis with the corresponding tractor unit.
