Fliegl container chassis. Lightweight & durable.

Container chassis have to withstand the toughest use and high time pressure. Fliegl is therefore permanently concerned with optimising their weight, handling and sustainability aspects. In addition to economic efficiency, the main focus is on making the application as safe and comfortable as possible for the driver. With functionality, robustness, safety and intelligent lightweight construction, Fliegl has won over well-known container logistics companies. They benefit from low fuel and operating costs.

All container chassis from Fliegl Trailer are available including hot-dip galvanizing. They are ADR-approved according to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. As a full-range supplier, Fliegl covers all application areas of container logistics:

Chemical chassis light. The lightweight pioneer for sensitive applications.

Fliegl's chemical chassis light transport containers with hazardous goods and substances - but with safety. They are mainly used in chemical logistics. As the first vehicle of its kind, the Chemie light from Fliegl came onto the market with an unladen weight of only 2.7 tons . For maximum stability it has a fine-grain steel welded construction with overlapping upper and lower chords.

The equipment includes a stainless steel drip tray, drip plates, aluminium running grates, a VA drain cock, an optional splash-proof stainless steel hose box (with drain and stainless steel lid with rubber seal) and stainless steel earthing lugs on the frame. Grounding reels with grounding wire and clamps, fire extinguishers and fire extinguisher storage boxes are available as accessories. The extra deep, ergonomic entry at the rear allows the operator to climb up safely.

Gooseneck chassis. The all-rounder for everyday handling.

Gooseneck container chassis from Fliegl take containers of all common sizes: from 20 feet to 45 feet. The trailers are made for rough logistic use, well thought-out and matured.

sophisticated, their operation is unmistakable. With its heavy chassis, Fliegl is the leader in the demanding Scandinavian market.

Fliegl's gooseneck chassis have frames whose longitudinal beams are not parallel, but converge. This V-shape makes itself felt in a significant payload plus, in addition it has a positive effect on the vehicle stability, since forces are bundled and transferred directly to the fifth wheel. Aerodynamic advantages are a positive side effect of the V-shaped frame design.

Vario Chassis. Maximum variability, optimum fifth wheel load.

Fliegl's Vario container chassis meet all the requirements of container logistics. The heart of the system is its centre telescoping with Tele Control, which allows all standard containers from 20 to 45 feet to be transported. The parking brake of the axles is activated via Tele Control and - depending on the container size - the desired length of the extension is selected with a single hand movement. Once this is reached, Tele Control automatically engages in the specified position. Manual fixing is not necessary. The system works simply, safely and without tilting. To accommodate containers without a tunnel, the trailers are equipped with a height adjustment at the rear and with foldable centre supports. Container transport of all sizes is possible without any problems with a Fliegl Vario Chassis. The different trailers are distinguished by their extensions:

  • Fliegl Vario Chassis V1: middle telescoping and rear extension.
  • Fliegl Vario Chassis V2: middle telescoping, rear and front extension

Fliegl's Vario V2+ is designed with an extremely short rear overhang - practical advantage is 25% fifth wheel load. In all variants, the supply unit is mounted higher and coupled to the front extension deflector. This provides better protection. The deflector itself has been fitted with a vertical plate which protects it from deformation and at the same time makes loading the trailer even easier: the container finds its position quickly and easily.

The hot-dip galvanised mechanical rear extension has a rubber-mounted guide shaft for more grip and an additional suspension effect. The rubber coating absorbs shocks from the container and increases chassis life. The solid bolts of the reinforced,

bolted and replaceable spring latches ensure secure locking of the extension, which automatically engages in the generous fixing holes. In order to optimise work safety when pushing back the telescopic extension, the frame has been shortened in the area of the telescopic tunnel. This creates more space for the safe operation of the extension.

Fliegl has moved the support feet to the rear. This allows the tractor to manoeuvre with optimum clearance - even at extreme angles. Even trucks with a long wheelbase do not damage the support legs. The position lights on the outside of the frame are similarly protected. They are located outside the tractor's range of movement.

The heavy block at the rear has been extended to the rear so that the light unit of the vehicle is protected and cannot be damaged when approaching a loading ramp. The underride guard is made of stainless galvanized steel. When pulled out to the rear, the element automatically locks into the desired position.

Vario tipping chassis. The bulk material innovation.

On Fliegl's tipper container chassis , the container locks are integrated in the front of the tipper ram's mounting block, including a deflector on both sides. At the rear, the locks plus resistant container stops are located on the continuous tipping shaft with return spring. The terminal strip is located in an optimally protected position, as are the rear lights, which are set upwards and inwards. The rear has a galvanised steel underride guard.

The chassis is quickly and easily prepared to accommodate containers of different dimensions by means of a centre telescope and pin locking. The Tele Control optionally facilitates telescoping by automatically braking the trailer and relieving the load on the two rear axles. Depending on the version, the following loading options are available:

  • 20/30 feet: centre telescope retracted (20 feet), centre telescope extended (30 feet).
  • 30/40 feet: centre telescope retracted (30 feet), centre telescope extended (40 feet)

The tipping process is carried out hydraulically - via the auxiliary drive of the tractor (standard) or with the aid of an electro-hydraulic unit (option).

The novelty: Fliegl Vario V3.

A clear payload plus was the aim of Fliegl's current development in the field of container chassis. A Vario chassis of the type V3 is created. The current unladen weight of the vehicles of the new series is 4700 kg. Hauliers and drivers can therefore be sure of always having a weight reserve and being able to carry the sealed containers. The new container chassis is particularly at home when transporting full containers in combined transport. It has a front, middle and also a rear extension, the latter is even galvanised.

Another highlight of the vehicle is its low frame neck height. It corresponds to the height of the container lock. The vehicle frame is therefore as low as the container tunnel is high. This means that the V3 can be driven with a lower semitrailer height, can withstand the height restriction without any problems and can therefore also be used for cross-border transports and Swiss transports without any problems.

Its support legs have been moved outwards, making it easier to hitch up and unhitch over pits, and the slewing radius for trucks has been optimised. The extensions of the V3 allow the following container transports:

  • 20 feet: centre telescope pushed in (20 feet)
  • 30 feet: flush with rear, centre telescope 1st step (30 feet)
  • 2x 20 feet/40 feet: rear extension extended, 1st step, with and without tunnel
  • 45 feet: centre telescope extended, 2nd step, stern extension extended, 2nd step with tunnel and overloaded to the stern
  • 45 feet: center telescope extended, 2nd stage, front extension extended, 1st stage,

rear extension extended, 2nd stage with long tunnel and bevelled corners

Great variety, enormous load capacity and more flexibility are the decisive advantages of the Fliegl container chassis. For convincing technology and simple operation.
