StoneMaster – the semi-trailer tipper for e-mobility

An extremely low unladen weight, a high payload and clever design features make this three-axle tipper semi-trailer with a steel body a highly sought-after construction vehicle. The chassis has also been optimised for use with electric tractors.

With tipper semi-trailers in the construction industry, empty runs are almost impossible to avoid; therefore, in addition to a high payload, a low unladen weight is crucial. With an unladen weight starting at 5,100 kilograms in the basic version, the Fliegl DHKS 390 StoneMaster three-axle semi-trailer with a 25 m³ Light steel tipper body in the Greenline specification is a real lightweight. This is achieved, amongst other things, by the aluminium rims and the lightweight frame, complete with a patented curved front end.

The low unladen weight results in a high permissible payload of up to 29,600 kg and a technical payload of up to 33,900 kg. To ensure that the full payload can be utilised even with electric tractors without exceeding the permissible fifth-wheel load, the chassis has been specially optimised, including new axle positions and optimised frame geometry. Fliegl has been optimising vehicles for use with electric tractors for several years now and is a pioneer in this field.

The Greenline version of the DHKS 390 is particularly efficient: at just 1,450 millimetres in height, the 25-cubic-metre tipper body is lower than the cab, which ensures low aerodynamic drag and also makes the body easier to load.

For bulk materials such as sand, gravel and crushed stone, a robust steel tipper body is required that is nevertheless as light as possible. The side panels of the payload-optimised 25-m³ steel round tipper body are made of wear-resistant steel; Fliegl’s wear-optimised floor is slightly thicker in the high-stress tipping zone than in the front section. Thanks to its aerodynamic, conical shape, no load remains stuck during tipping. This is also ensured by the completely smooth surface without any protrusions in the rear section. Thanks to the double-jointed hinge and two additional clamping screws with toggle locks, the curved membrane rear wall is almost completely leak-proof even without an additional seal, ensuring that damp bulk material remains inside the tipper body. The double-jointed hinge offers a very wide opening angle, which makes tipping easier.

All service connections, as well as the shovel and broom, are easily accessible at the front of the vehicle. Until the next job, the hydraulic hose is stored in its bracket and does not lie on the ground – keeping the coupling clean. When loading from the side with a wheel loader, some bulk material inevitably misses the target; thanks to the integrated, stone-repellent mudguards, it falls straight onto the ground and is not carried onto the road. And because no driver likes the hassle of fiddling with roll-up tarpaulins, the StoneMaster is fitted with the Cramaro ‘Cabriole’ sliding canopy with electric drive.
