Fliegl at the IAA - Lightweight Construction Redefined

From 15 to 20 September 2026, IAA Transportation will take place in Hanover for the third time. The international leading trade fair for commercial vehicles, logistics and the transport industry will focus on sustainable solutions, efficiency and TCO. On the path towards a climate-neutral transport and logistics industry, lightweight construction is more important than ever - and Fliegl has the ideal vehicles in its portfolio. At stand C37 in Hall 27, the vehicle manufacturer from Triptis will showcase high-quality trailers and semi-trailers as well as well-designed details that make everyday transport operations more efficient, comfortable and safe.

At the previous IAA Transportation, Fliegl presented an exceptionally lightweight semi-trailer for coil transport. This year, Fliegl will showcase its further development: the SDS 390 RoadRunner Coil Ultralight, the lightest coil trailer on the market. Its exceptionally low unladen weight of just 5,460 kg is made possible by lightweight construction in all relevant areas. Fliegl is also taking a new approach in production: special steel is used for the ultralight frame, while the frame holes are deep-drawn, providing greater stability while reducing weight. Despite its lightweight design, the semi-trailer offers extensive equipment and intelligent load-securing systems.

With an unladen weight starting at 4,700 kilograms, the Vario V3+ container chassis is also exceptionally lightweight. More than 90 percent of all goods worldwide are transported in containers for at least part of their journey, and Fliegl has developed this highly flexible container chassis specifically for this purpose. Whether carrying 20-, 30-, 40-, two 20- or even one 45-foot container, the V3+ can be quickly adapted to the respective transport requirements thanks to its front and rear extensions and its waisted central telescopic section.

Swap bodies of different lengths are frequently used for general cargo and parcel transport. With the TWP 180 Standard  tandem swap-body trailer, Fliegl offers the ideal vehicle for the job. With an unladen weight starting at just 3,100 kilograms, this particularly lightweight trailer provides a high payload of 14,900 kilograms and is suitable for swap bodies measuring 7.15, 7.45 and 7.82 metres in length. Thanks to the low-mounted drawbar, the rigid truck can even be equipped with a tail lift at all times. Since manoeuvring damage is almost an everyday occurrence in swap-body operations, Fliegl consistently focuses on preventing such damage through intelligent design details. See for yourself at stand C37 in Hall 27.

The TPS 118 is a compact tandem platform trailer offering a platform length of 7,300 millimetres and a payload of 8,500 kilograms. A special feature of the trailer on display, which is equipped with a curtainsider body, is its through-loading system with front portal doors and a drive-over loading flap. The loading flap is split into two sections and has a load capacity of 1,800 kilograms, making it suitable even for heavy pallets. From the sliding roof and sealed floor to the patented I-Lock door locking system, adjustable drawbar and various load-securing options, the TPS 118 provides everything required for the easy and safe transport of general cargo and pallets. See the details for yourself at our outdoor exhibition area L41.

The lightweight and robust steel-bodied tipping semi-trailer is designed for transporting bulk materials in the construction industry. Weighing just 5,403 kilograms, the DHKS 390 in Greenline specification is a genuine lightweight while still offering a permissible payload of 29,600 kilograms. Its conical 25-cubic-metre StoneMaster tipper body is also the lightest and lowest on the market. The folding and swivelling "Step" platform improves occupational safety, while the electric cover provides greater operating convenience. The patented Drive-On system is also on board. Like every Fliegl vehicle, the tipping semi-trailer features numerous useful details that make operation safer, more comfortable and more efficient.

Also on display at the trade fair will be the lightest fully equipped container chassis for ADR transport currently available on the market, which has also been developed for use with electric trucks. Since the fifth-wheel load of electric trucks often needs to be lower than that of conventional tractor units, Fliegl has optimised the axle positions and slightly increased the wheelbase. This allows the full payload to be utilised even with electric tractor units. The SDS 380 container semi-trailer is designed to accommodate 20-foot containers and offers another special feature: as an option, four precision load cells can be installed at the factory, on which the container rests. This makes it possible, for example, to determine the exact quantity delivered when transporting speciality chemicals.

Incidentally, when customers with special requirements for trailers or semi-trailers reach the limits of what other manufacturers can offer, Fliegl is ready to listen. Whether a highly specialised one-off vehicle or a small production series, the Fliegl team in Triptis develops and manufactures customised vehicles and individual solutions for almost every transport requirement. All trailers and semi-trailers are manufactured exclusively in Germany using state-of-the-art machinery.

The Fliegl team looks forward to welcoming customers and interested visitors at stand C37 in Hall 27. Managing Director Helmut Fliegl will also be there in person, staying close to customers and open to suggestions and technical discussions.
